Jayanta Debnath

Senior Software Engineer

I’m a Senior Software Engineer who gets way too excited about building cool, useful things on the internet. I’ve got a thing for clean, intuitive interfaces (because if it looks good and works great, everyone wins). Somewhere between obsessing over pixel alignment and solving bugs at 2 AM, I found out I really love turning ideas into digital experiences people actually enjoy using.

I didn’t start in tech — in fact, I began my career at Amazon Hyderabad in a non-technical role, where I learned a lot about structure, communication, and how to handle chaos like a pro. Eventually, my love for design and problem-solving pulled me into the world of UI/UX, and that’s where things really clicked. I transitioned into tech as a UI/UX Developer, leveled up to frontend development, and soon found myself working across the full stack. Now, I’m at NagaEd as a Senior Software Engineer, building user-focused products and solving the kind of problems that keep most people up at night — in a good way.

Jayanta’s role at NagaEd

At NagaEd, I lead development on key platforms including our open-source LMS, internal tools, and backend systems. I work across technologies like React, Node.js, and AWS, while also mentoring junior developers and contributing to product direction.

Talk to Jayanta about

  • Building modern, responsive web applications — because pixel-perfect is a personality trait.
  • UI/UX design and crafting experiences that don’t make users cry (unless it’s tears of joy).
  • What it’s like to switch from a non-tech role to tech — spoiler: lots of Googling and grit
  • Collaborating on meaningful, user-focused products that actually solve problems (not just add features no one asked for)
  • Planning an entire trip itinerary like it’s a product launch — organized, fun, and a little too detailed.

Fun Facts:

  • I’m the kind of person who can pick up on the one word someone says a little too often, the subtle habit they don’t realize they have, or the shift in tone that says more than the words do. Basically, I notice the things most people miss — and yes, I’m also oddly confident I can smell a cavity. Kim Kardashian and I have that in common.
