A grassroots education program in Nagaland shows how community-led design, digital innovation, and targeted training can transform learning in frontier regions.

NagaEd, in partnership with the Kiphire District Administration and the NITI Aayog’s Aspirational Districts Programme, launched the Learning Enhancement and Accessibility Project (LEAP) — a three-year initiative (2023–2026) aimed at uplifting digital education in Kiphire, Nagaland.

What Are the Key Takeaways from LEAP’s Year One?

  • Custom Learning for Frontier Needs:
A comprehensive Listening Mission led to tailored digital education solutions for 15 government schools in Kiphire, addressing specific gaps in student readiness and digital access.
  • Teacher Empowerment Through Digital Tools:
Intensive training, on-ground support, and direct access to subject experts enabled teachers to confidently use digital platforms and deliver interactive courseware.
  • Bridging the Digital Divide:
Schools received 5G routers, devices, and offline access solutions — ensuring students could benefit from digital learning even in low-connectivity areas.
  • High-Quality, Modular Courseware:
LEAP introduced structured, interactive content in Maths and Science for Classes 9 & 10, including carefully mapped prerequisite modules to address foundational gaps.
  • Community-Driven Implementation:
Local leaders, parents, and school committees played an active role in designing and rolling out the program, building ownership and sustainability.

TicTacLearn digital resources (by Central Square Foundation) were adapted into modular blocks with videos, quizzes, and practice tools.

👩‍🏫 Teacher & Student Training

📡 Infrastructure Deployment
Installation of routers, hardware checks, and LMS setup in all participating schools.

📊 Monitoring & Evaluation
Regular on-ground check-ins, feedback loops, and an impact framework led by a local project coordinator.

What’s Next for LEAP?

Over 2024–2026, LEAP will:

  • Expand implementation based on Year 1 insights
  • Continue capacity-building for teachers
  • Provide re-orientation for new students and staff
  • Regularly assess impact and refine delivery

LEAP is not just about digital learning — it’s about building a learning culture rooted in local needs and powered by technology.
