Kohima, September 5, 2025 – On the occasion of State-level Teachers’ Day 2025, the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), in collaboration with the Department of School Education and NagaEd, celebrated the ongoing success of Phase 2 of the School Safety Policy (SSP) Compliance Course. The event also marked the presentation of the “School Safety Excellence Awards” to honour schools that demonstrated outstanding participation and commitment to the programme.
Launched on December 1, 2023, by Honourable Chief Minister Shri Neiphiu Rio, the SSP Compliance Course has become a cornerstone initiative to build a first-step disaster resilience across Nagaland’s schools. Following the overwhelming success of Phase 1, Phase 2 continues to record a total of 8,875 teacher registrations and 3,714 certifications till date, engaging both government and private school educators across the state.
The programme’s outreach has extended beyond classrooms, with over 32 lakh advertisement views and 7 lakh people engaged through marketing awareness campaigns, underlining the importance of school safety in every community.
In recognition of their remarkable participation, the “School Safety Excellence Awards” were conferred upon four outstanding schools:
“This course represents one of the first essential steps in building a culture of disaster preparedness across our schools. While much more needs to be done to strengthen awareness and readiness, today’s acknowledgement and awards reaffirm the collective progress we are making. It is a reminder that when schools, teachers, and institutions come
together, we can create safer learning environments for every child in Nagaland.” said Aonok Aier, Head of Projects and Learning Excellence at NagaEd.
The celebration not only honoured schools and educators but also reiterated Nagaland’s vision of embedding safety, preparedness, and resilience at the heart of its education system.
The School Safety Policy Compliance Course is an ongoing programme in the state and Phase 2 is set to end on 31st October. All teachers and school leaders in all schools in Nagaland are encouraged to register and complete the course by the deadline.
