| Job Title: | Software Developer |

| Hours: | Full-time |
| Salary: | Upto 5.04 LPA |

The Software Developer builds and maintains features across NagaEd’s product portfolio under the direction of senior developers. The role holder contributes to Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks development — writing clean, documented code, participating in testing, and supporting deployment — with growing independence on defined feature workstreams. This is a promotion from the Junior Software Engineer position, reflecting demonstrated technical growth and readiness to take on defined feature workstreams with less day-to-day direction. The step-up requires the role holder to move from assisting on tasks to owning small, well-scoped pieces of product work end-to-end — from implementation through testing to deployment support — while continuing to work under senior developer direction on architecture and technical decisions.
The role sits within the IT function and directly supports NagaEd’s core product portfolio. Clean, well-documented, well-tested code is essential to keeping Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks reliable as they scale.
Feature Development
• Build and maintain features across NagaEd’s product portfolio — Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks — under the direction of senior developers.
• Take increasing ownership of defined feature workstreams, from implementation through to release, as independence grows.
• Write clean, well-documented code that meets NagaEd’s engineering standards.
Testing & Deployment Support
• Participate in testing for owned features, including writing and running tests and addressing defects found during review.
• Support deployment activities for assigned features, coordinating with senior developers as needed.
Collaboration & Growth
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align technical implementation with product and educational goals.
• Participate in peer code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback, to support team-wide code quality.
• Take initiative in problem-solving and improving existing systems under guidance from senior team members.
• Continue growing technical skills through mentorship, training, and hands-on experience across the product portfolio.
This role reports directly to the Senior Software Engineer, who also acts as mentor and support. The Software Developer works with product leads on Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks, and collaborates with cross-functional teams and stakeholders, but does not hold line management authority over any team member.

The Software Developer role is for someone with a solid technical foundation who is ready to take on defined feature workstreams with growing independence, contributing across NagaEd’s product portfolio.
• 1–3 years of experience in full-stack software development (Node.js, React, AWS, SQL/NoSQL).
• Working understanding and experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS.
• Demonstrated ability to write clean, documented code and work within an existing codebase.
• Strong problem-solving, debugging, and documentation skills.
• Growing ability to work independently on defined workstreams, while knowing when to escalate to senior developers.
• Effective communication and teamwork skills.
• Exposure to AI-powered product features or automation tooling.
• Experience with data analytics, dashboard development, or internal tooling.
• Experience or interest in education technology and digital learning platforms.
The Software Developer’s performance will be assessed against the following indicators, reviewed regularly with the Senior Software Engineer:
| KPI | Target | Frequency |
|---|---|---|
| Feature delivery | Assigned features across Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks delivered on time and to spec | Per sprint/release |

Code quality & |
Code is clean, documented, and passes peer review with minimal rework | Ongoing |

As the Software Developer demonstrates consistent ownership of feature workstreams, code quality, and growing independence across Marina AI, Livi AI, and Topworks, the scope will expand toward greater autonomy on architecture and technical decisions. The natural progression from this role — subject to organisational need, demonstrated performance, and available headcount — is toward a Senior Software Engineer role. Progression is based on demonstrated capability, not tenure. A clear track record against the KPIs in this PD is the foundation for any future promotion discussion.
