Kipenpongla Jamir

Program Manager

As a student of sociology, I’ve often looked at my surroundings through a sociological lens, leading me to a deeper understanding of the persistent divide between “the haves” and “the have-nots” in our society. This realization inspired me to pursue my masters in Rural Development and its Governance system, aiming to dive deeper into the ways to explore effective strategies for bridging these divides and to empower communities.

As a Development Practitioner, I have been fortunate to collaborate with multiple stakeholders and local governmental agencies to bring developmental change in the rural parts of North East India. Working closely with communities to facilitate change have been my expertise, nonetheless as “bridging the gap” has always been my primary goal, my perspective evolved when I volunteered for an education project there, I had the opportunity to not only mentor and engage with the children but also better understood the needs and challenges of the children. There I saw the need for an inclusive approach towards building and supporting our children as the need of the hour especially for rural settings of Nagaland. As “bridging the gap” has always been the gaol I’ve now understood how education for the children can play a major catalyst in truly developing our State. Hence, I am committed to contributing to this cause.
